Curiosity at the Start
9/9/25
Did you know that September 28 marks Ask a Stupid Question Day? This began in schools to encourage students to speak up without fear or embarrassment, and it’s a perfect reminder that curiosity is strength, not a weakness. Asking questions reduces stress by clearing up confusion, strengthens learning by helping ideas stick, and even builds confidence the more you practice speaking up. Questions can also help build connections, since they spark conversations and bring people together.
This message is especially important if you’re starting the year fresh, whether at a new school or in more challenging classes than before. It is normal to feel nervous about standing out, but it’s still important to advocate for yourself and your learning by asking questions. Speaking up can also help you build the confidence to take ownership of your learning and find your place in a new environment. By allowing yourself to be curious, you create the foundation for growth and wellbeing throughout the school year.
